Heroes Hockey Challenge 2012

Please read the attached pfd file. This is an initiative initially led by our sister regiment, the PPCLI, in which we have been invited to participate along with the Vandoos. Should it be successful, there is the potential for the raising of a substantial amount of money for which we as a regiment would benefit in supporting our wounded and their families. The scope of this endeavour has grown to such proportions that it is now a CF led activity.

Briefly, this is a civilian / corporate driven activity that is partnered with the CF. It is a pro hockey / military themed event linked with hockey hero's (NHL old timers) with military "hero's". Essentially there will be 6 events across the country, two of which will be RCR led (a regimental hockey team to be provided) representing the Canadian Army. Each event is proceeded by a gala fund raising dinner targeting corporate sponsors and donations.

The following is the tentative schedule:

  • Vancouver: 1 – 3 Feb '12 / PPCLI representing the CF;
  • Calgary: 17 – 19 Feb '12 / PPCLI representing the CF;
  • Halifax: 29 Feb – 1 Mar '12 / The RCR representing the CF;
  • Quebec: TBC ; / Vandoos representing the CF;
  • Montreal: 16 – 17 Mar '12 / Vandoos representing the CF; and
  • Toronto: 23 – 24 Mar '12 / The RCR representing the CF.

I would ask all Branch Presidents to please pass this along to all of your members in order to spread the word. I have no further information about ticket sales at this time but assume that tickets can be purchased at all major arena venues beforehand.
