To date submissions for Pro Patria 2011 have been rather disappointing. Although I know that submissions from our four Battalions are well in hand, I had hoped for a somewhat better response from ERE Royals (though I note that CSOR has submitted an impressive article and photos). I am very aware of how busy all members of the Regiment have been and will continue to be. However, I must stress the importance of our annual publication as a bridge between the different components of The Royal Canadian Regiment. I appeal to all Royal Canadians to assist in obtaining articles for our next Pro Patria. In particular I appeal to our hard working ERE groups whose stories deserve to be told alongside those of the major units of our Regiment. I also appeal to our many Association Branches who in the past have been a source of a great many photos and wonderful anecdotes. And Individual submissions are always most welcome. Key Regimental personalities can provide a very important perspective on Regimental affairs and events. Please remember that through these submissions we all help to provide the necessary continuity in our Regimental narrative. Past issues of the Connecting File and Pro Patria have always provided a wonderful resource for historians and scholars.

I am prepared to give an extension of a further four weeks until 11 May for additional submissions for Pro Patria 2011. As a reminder, please refer to the attached document, the call letter for your submissions. Submissions are to cover the period 01 January - 31 December 2011. Submissions must be submitted with the instructions contained in the call letter no later than 11 May 2012. Your assistance in this extremely important endeavour is deeply appreciated. Should require more time please approach me individually. Help get the word out and if you feel so inclined put pen to paper and write an article. Even if you just send in just one photo of Regimental interest you will have done a great deal. Thank you.
